MMB's off-the-shelf hardware is designed to be used in conjunction with our RapidConnect firmware and tools, providing the fastest possible path to market for our customers. Our hardware has been used in dozens of successful IoT products, meeting the industry's most stringent requirements for size, power consumption, and RF performance.

We have spent over 10 years refining the design of our RapidConnect Module and incorporating it into application-specific hardware to offer complete hardware solutions such as the RapidConnect USB Stick and RapidConnect Gateway.

RapidConnect Module

MMB’s RapidConnect Modules feature industry-leading size, power efficiency, and RF performance to make effective use of our RapidConnect software solutions and dramatically reduce development time and cost.

The latest generation of RapidConnect Module is available in multiple variants to suit numerous use cases, including communication via:

  • Zigbee
  • Thread
  • Bluetooth

The BSB03PA1x series of RapidConnect Modules are based on the EFR32 multi-protocol SoC from Silicon Labs.

Most wireless modules help get you over the RF design challenge, but still leave you with the challenge of building and supporting a substantial IoT application. All RapidConnect Modules are pre-loaded with MMB’s RapidConnect or RapidConnect Thread applications to enable rapid integration of a fully-configurable Zigbee 3.0 or Thread solution.

More than just a reference design or an AT command set, RapidConnect is a fully-featured application that can be configured via a simple serial interface. Alternatively, MMB can provide custom firmware builds to adapt to your product's existing serial protocol. This lets you focus your resources on the unique features of your products while providing a robust, field-hardened IoT platform that can evolve with future standards.

    RapidConnect Gateway

    When developing a custom IoT platform, time to market and ease of development are critical. Leveraging MMB's 10 years of experience in IoT platform deployments, our Linux gateway allows users to quickly get connected. 

    It is the ideal solution for customers looking to deploy their own IoT platform. Industry standard interfaces include ethernet, Wi-Fi, USB, and Zigbee (enabled using MMB's RapidConnect firmware). With minimal development effort, the RapidConnect Gateway can be configured to form a Zigbee network, connect to other devices, and communicate their data to a cloud connection.

    The RapidConnect Gateway contains numerous software libraries which are available in Python, Java, and C/C++ allowing product developers to work in their preferred language. 

    Many customization options exist so that the RapidConnect gateway can be configured to match your existing brand. The enclosure colour and top printing can be customized. The RapidConnect Gateway includes seven LEDs, which can be programmed through software to indicate different types of status or error messages.

    Complemented by MMB's world-class support and software resources, the RapidConnect Gateway will minimize your development effort and shorten the time to market for your new IoT ecosystem.

      RapidConnect USB Demo Board

        The RapidConnect Demo Board is a flexible piece of hardware that provides simple interfaces to connect a RapidConnect Module to other devices for prototype purposes. Unlike the RapidConnect Development Board, the RapidConnect Module is soldered in place on the RapidConnect Demo Board. 

        The RapidConnect Demo Board also features a USB interface to allow it to be connected to a PC running the RapidConnect Desktop software for testing and serial firmware upgrades.

        Many of our customers produce early prototypes of their new Zigbee-connected devices using a RapidConnect Demo Board, completing their initial evaluation and demonstrations before updating their PCB design to directly integrate a RapidConnect Zigbee Module.

        RapidConnect            Development Board

          The RapidConnect Development Board is a flexible piece of hardware that provides simple interfaces to connect a RapidConnect Module to other devices for prototype purposes. The socket connection makes it easy to swap in different RapidConnect Module units, which is useful during programming and testing activities. The RapidConnect Development Board also features a USB interface to allow it to be connected to a PC running the RapidConnect Desktop software for testing and serial firmware upgrades.

          Many of our customers utilize the RapidConnect Development Board to reprogram their RapidConnect Modules or build early prototypes of their new Zigbee-connected devices, completing their initial evaluation and demonstrations before updating their PCB design to directly integrate a RapidConnect Zigbee Module.

          RapidConnect Lighting & Sensor Evaluation Board

          The RapidConnect Lighting & Sensor Evaluation Board has been designed to showcase the features in the RapidConnect Lighting & Sensor firmware. It includes peripherals to demonstrate each of the lighting control outputs and sensing inputs on the RapidConnect Module, enabling immediate demonstration of the wireless features that can be enabled via common Home Automation and Building Automation systems.

          The RapidConnect Lighting & Sensor Evaluation Board also includes pins to connect to your own lighting and sensor hardware.

            RapidConnect Development Kit

            The RapidConnect Development Kits are available in multiple flavors, targetted at specific IoT product categories. The kits are collections of all the hardware and software tools needed to prototype and integrate Zigbee 3.0 interoperabilty in your device. They typically include:

            • Development Boards or Evaluation Boards for prototyping and testing
            • USB Sticks or USB Demo Boards to be used in conjunction with RapidConnect Desktop for testing and demonstrations
            • Modules for mechanical evaluation

            Using our RapidConnect Desktop software (available as a free download), the firmware running on each piece of hardware in the kit can be upgraded.
